Join us in La Porte for our Spring Meeting

Our Spring meeting will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 in La Porte at the La Port County Historical Society Museum.  We will have a business meeting, tour of the Museum, and the unveiling of a banner marking this as the location a modern Control Station.  There will also be a catered lunch at the Museum.  More details will be forthcoming.  We hope you can join us!

Indiana Byways Conference November 4-5 in Metamora, Indiana

The Whitewater Canal National Scenic Byway is hosting this conference so the eight Indiana Byways can work together to “Increase Visitor Engagement along Your Byway.” Location is the historic depot at 19067 U.S. 52. There is no charge for attendance at the Conference, however reservations for Thursday evening’s dinner are required. Contact Candy Yurcak with Whitewater by

A block of rooms has been reserved at Cobblestone Inn & Suites, 9135 S.R. 101 in Brookville (approximately 8 miles from the conference center). A reduced nightly rate
of $90.00 will be granted when making your reservation mentioning the Whitewater Canal Byway Association Conference on November 4 & 5.

Thursday’s agenda includes exploring the Whitewater Canal Byway, networking, and dinner. Friday offers many workshops, updates from each Byway, and concludes by 2:30.

9:30 a.m. EDT – Meet at Historic New Carlisle Museum – 112 E. Michigan St. Ample parking is available in the lot behind the museum – the back door will be open.

9:30 – 10:45 EDT – Dana Groves, Director, will lead a tour of the Museum and give a presentation on New Carlisle history and recent historic preservation efforts. Guests may walk down the block to view the Lincoln Highway Kiosk and murals on downtown buildings.

10:45 – 11:00 EDT – Drive the LH to Jennie Rae’s Restaurant in nearby Rolling Prairie – 5201 E. US 20. This is the former Bob’s Bar-B-Q – check out the Bob’s memorabilia inside the restaurant. https://jenniesonthego.com/

Fall Meeting in New Carlisle, Indiana

The Indiana Lincoln Highway Association will hold its Fall Meeting in New Carlisle, Indiana at the newly refurbished Historic New Carlisle on October 30, 2021 – 9:30 am EDT. It is located in the center of town now at 112. E. Michigan St. (the Lincoln Highway). Dana Groves will be our host as we take a peek at the interesting things they are doing around town and at their new digs! The business meeting and lunch will follow at Jennie Rae’s beginning at 11:00 and hopefully ending by 12:30-1:00 for departure. You will hear many more details later in the month…but mark your calendar and lets have some fun together!

New turn by turn guides available

Indiana Lincoln Highway Association President Jeff Blair created new detailed turn by turn road guides of the 1913 and 1928 routes of the Indiana Lincoln Highway Byway.
Separate guides are available for traveling east and west. The guides are divided by the related counties and include the mileage; historical markers, plaques and signs; and other recommended stops.
