Fall Meeting – Warsaw, IN – November 1
Please Join Us in Warsaw!
We invite you to the Fall Gathering of the Indiana Lincoln Highway Association
on Saturday, November 1, in Warsaw.
The day includes an auto tour of the 1928 Lincoln Highway in parts of Kosciusko and Whitley Counties, and a membership meeting and lunch at Mad Anthony Brewing Company on the LH in Warsaw. You are welcome to attend either the morning tour or lunch and membership meeting or both.
8:50 – 9:00 a.m. EDT ~ Meet at the Chinworth Bridge (Old US 30 at CR 350 W).
We will begin the day with a drive a caravan along the Lincoln Highway beginning on the west side of Warsaw at the kiosk commemorating the LH, next to the Chinworth Bridge.
We’ll drive through Warsaw on Old Route 30, pass the LH monuments along Lake Street, the Kosciusko County Courthouse (c. 1884), our later-in-the-day meeting and lunch spot Mad Anthony’s, and the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts.
East of town we’ll point out the turnoff to the Barbee Hotel (great history), one of the last remaining original Boy Scout markers on private property, and a remnant now called Old Trail Road.
Crossing into Whitley County we’ll see a remnant of the route on private property, reach Lorane, and see an abandoned bridge across Spring Creek (hard to find) before heading back to Warsaw on the Yellowstone Trail (south of the LH and US 30 in this area).
A map and a driving guide with related stories will be provided at the Chinworth Bridge.
11:00 ~ Membership meeting at Mad Anthony Brewing Company (113 E. Center Street, Warsaw). This is a restaurant/tavern with a room in the back which we will use for our meeting. There is plenty of free parking usually on Saturday on both sides of the street and around the corners east and west.
The agenda will include minutes and a financial report, updates on current historical signage projects in three towns, on going projects, and more. The annotated agenda will be provided in advance to expedite the meeting.
12:00 ~ Lunch at Mad Anthony Brewing Company. $24.00 includes entree, tax, tip, and beverage.
12:30 – 1:30 ~ We will resume/conclude the membership meeting.
